Happy Thanksgiving to you all and please enjoy and indulge in a piece of pie instead of worrying about calories. I always have a piece (small, ok, smallish) of both pumpkin and apple and feel no regrets!
Be especially kind to others today. Remember that we have our own quirks that others have to put up with too.
I have never been able to understand why stores start opening at 3:00 and 4:00 in the morning the day after Thanksgiving. I never was motivated to go because I was always too tired from cleaning the house and cooking and just wanted to sleep in Friday morning. They should change the early day to Saturday since I think most women are the ones going to these sales and usually women do most of the holiday cleaning and cooking too. STILL! We need to give women a break.
Well, enough of my my soapbox. You will never see me at a JC Penney at 3:00 a.m. But if that is your thing have fun and everyone, have a relaxed, hopeful and meaningful day.
Can you believe it--some stores are opening today!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holiday.
Thelma - Yes, thanks for reminding me about that - I had forgotten, I was so amazed about the ones opening at 3:00 a.m.! Hope you have a lovely day today. I suppose we can look at it this way though - back in the olden days NO stores were open so if you had forgotten the can of cranberry sauce, you were out of luck.
ReplyDeleteLove the turkey on the wreath! So cute!!! No shopping for me the day of or after Thanksgiving, though I will be helping at the Christian book store where my son work. I fill in sometimes -- tomorrow 7:30 a.m. to greet people - ugh! Will do my best to put on my non-drowsy, happy face! :D Can't wait to hear if you will be joining the knitting group. I hope you do -- you have a wonderful gift! Blessed day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't even imagine getting up that early to go shopping. I am so exhausted by cooking/cleaning today that when my son suggested that we put up Christmas decorations tomorrow, I was not a happy camper. We will see what tomorrow brings.
ReplyDeleteI hope that everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy!!!
Beth - They closed the Christian store near me (owner retired) and it was one of my favorite places to go (especially after my husband died) for contemplation and healing. If there was a store I would advocate going to on Black Friday, it would be one like yours! Thank you for complimenting my crocheted turkey. I did not want to have to make another one and found this wreath in the nick of time - still have so much jumbled and jammed into the storage shed. It was nice to finally find something on time and to be able to use it when it was appropriate!
ReplyDeleteJeanne - We all need a rest after a day like Thanksgiving. It is just a mad charge into the next season. I hope you don't have to do too much holiday decorating tomorrow. I'm going to delay fall until Dec. 1st and that is when I will officially declare the holiday season upon me and mine. No decorating or even thinking about Christmas until then.
